“The choreographic challenge is to give visual and dynamic concreteness to the emotion that each note expresses, capturing the nuances of Bach’s music by translating into dance the process of emotional analysis starting from what the musical score suggests. The violence and the sweetness that arise from the sounds vibrations must have a physical correspondence, creating dances crossing new carnal frequencies. The project starts from the need to challenge classical musical scores, never before tackled, in order to discover new approaches to choreography and open up to new dynamic visions. The Bach studies will be a gymnasium for choreography, a changing choreographic place that never ends its evolution. The live music sews the dancer’s epidermis to the place, taking him to another level of interpretation and listening. At the same time, the air moved by the bodies impacts on the musicians, making the action of the dance on the instrument tangible.” – Manfredi Perego

The state of “limbo” between the real and the imaginary, between erotic fantasies and sober reality, described by Mallarmé in his poem L’après-midi d’un faune, inspired Vaslav Nijinsky in the creation of the groundbreaking 1912 choreography of the same name. Since then, the theme has been artistically interpreted several times. Its fascination also inspired choreographer Mauro de Candia to explore and bring to the stage this half-animal-half-human figure. In his Faun*, he cautiously approaches the mysterious essence of this sensual creature of nature that covets reality in order to track down and release its dynamic power. It is the various bodily states and moods of the faun, its metamorphoses, that interest de Candia and which he explores. Is there not a faun in each of us? Is it not also an allegory of our time, in which bodies and their identities are reinvented and re-explored?

NO HALF MEASURES is a choreographic installation that works in relation to the dance identity, whether presented on stage, in a museum or in an unconventional space, and the identity of the dancers through a collective self-portrait. Four faces, appearing in constant motion, construct a fiction that narrates the evolution of the body. The dialogue between its portraits crosses currents evolving through different avant-garde art movements. The company was founded in 2003 by Meritxell Barberá and Inma García, both graduates in Classical and Contemporary Dance. Since then their works have been presented in prestigious locations and festivals both nationally and internationally. They have been operating since the beginning of their careers paying attention to the most immediate present, constantly listening to the ideological, social and cultural context that generally shakes art.

A new, delicate Research Project on the thin boundary between man and beast; an investigation of transformations, change, the physical and spiritual alteration of being, the search for its own nature, identity, shape. Starting from the concept of man as a thinking animal with an individual consciousness, we uncover him, denude him, relating him to his truest instincts, the fears that render him powerless, his most beastly face, the pure truth of the body.
LARVA is the first chapter of the Triptych and comes to life in a public situation, a political event. Major themes are evoked on the scene: from the crisis of democracy to the climate emergency, from war to the gravity of the world situation, which are gradually going to draw the perimeter of catastrophe. In such an enclosure, Larva plays its own operetta part, sparking on the surface, winking to itself. In the absence of thought, the immediate enjoyment of a codified beauty eventually disperses all content, produces disorientation, reveals ineptitude. The body becomes the locus of all loss, becomes an obstacle, tears itself apart, unravels, and withdraws from human form. From this new condition he launches his political manifesto. Farce and tragedy merge.
