CORPI IN OPERA / BODIES AT WORK
NOA-UMINGMAK- Studio per Aliseo
A proposal for museums, theatres, and unconventional venues
In Corpi in Opera, presence becomes living matter in a unique evening of contemporary dance solos.
The body turns into a work of art, transforming museums, stages, and unconventional spaces into poetic arenas of action — places where it becomes a generator of emotion, new narratives, and unexpected connections between past and present, stillness and motion, contemplation and vitality.
On stage, three performers and three choreographers intertwine their original visions, born from a shared research journey on the theme of desire. The guiding question is both simple and radical: what desire inhabits us?
To take responsibility for one’s own desire — as performer and as creator — means to embrace its force, follow its direction, and generate movement that enables us to change within the capacity to change.
The performance takes shape within the living space between performer and creator, through a shared pact that also involves the audience, invited to take part in an immersive and transformative experience.

UMINGMAKChoreography Mauro de Candia Production Balletto Teatro di Torino Duration: 12 minutes Umingmak is a choreographic reflection on identity and its contradictions, an exploration of the body as a container of past experiences. A shell filled with events, news, internal and external stimuli – therefore never natural, never original. And yet, it is original: our way of being human, of being in the world, is mediated and made fluid by all the experiences that are inscribed in our DNA and that we experience on and with our body. As biotechnological innovation pushes us toward the dissolution of the boundary between natural and artificial, humanity redefines itself in a fluid and always-shifting space. Umingmak embraces conflict – not to resolve it but to navigate through it. It embraces opposition – not to filter it out but to experience it within the complexity of today’s body. |

| Choreography Manfredi Perego Dancer Bailey Kager / Ivo Santos Original music Paolo Codognola Costume design Majatai Co-production Balletto Teatro di Torino and Fattoria Vittadini With the support of Italian Ministry of Culture, Piedmont Region Duration: 18 minutes “Wind is mythical, it is practical, it is catharsis. Aliseo is a journey of transformation, without beginning nor end.” Manfredi Perego Aliseo is a constant, regular wind, like the desire to explore and dance. Wind is energy – it needs places, intentions, sometimes chaos in order to let its power emerge in all its intensities. Intensities are drawings of transformations. They transform the body’s actions by changing the landscape, just like the intensity of the wind. Study for Aliseo is a transporting, disruptive, transformative dance. An ode to the invisible power of desire – constant and changing – that passes through bodies and guides them toward new shapes. |
