Manfredi Perego

2018 - IN HOUSE

COREOGRAPHER

Manfredi was born in Parma (Italy) in 1981. After doing various sports – Judo, Thai Boxe, and soccer – at 17 he started studying contemporary dance at his mother’s school.

In 2002 he got a scholarship to Carolyn Carlson’s Accademia Isola Danza, where he came into contact with Northern European dance movements and American movement research.

A few years later, Manfredi got a degree in Scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna with a thesis on improvisation in dance.

He continued studying dance with teachers he met at the Biennale and, at the same time, started his professional career as a freelance dancer in dance-theater and contemporary dance companies in Switzerland and Germany. After coming back to Italy, he worked for Simona Bertozzi and other companies from 2010 to 2014. He also started practicing martial arts again.

The first personal movement research project was in 2013 and it brought him to do a three-week training in the forest. From this experience came some intuitions, a primitive/poetic movement revolving around a composition based on images where signs, space, and moving scripts intertwine.

In 2014 Manfredi founded MP.ideograms and won the award Premio Equilibrio with the solo ‘Grafiche del silenzio.’

In 2015 he debuted ‘Dei crinali’ at Festival Equilibrio and ‘Horizon’ at Vetrina della Giovane Danza d’Autore in Ravenna.

In 2016 he participated in the project ‘VITA NOVA,’ for Biennale di Venezia, with the first chapter of ‘Primitiva.’ The work on the project ‘Primitiva’ continued in 2017 at Scenario Pubblico in Catania with the dancers of MoDem.

In 2017 he won the award Premio GD’A Giovane Danza D’Autore and in 2018 debuted ‘Labile Pangea’ at Festival Aperto.

In 2019 he choreographed for Roberto Zappalà’s CZD2 in the project ‘Urban Woods.’

Since 2015 Manfredi has been supported by TIR Danza.

Since 2017 he has been collaborating with Balletto Teatro di Torino as a Guest Coach and in staging some performances. In 2020 he choreographed ‘Studio per Anemoi’ for BTT.

He is Associate Choreographer at Centro Nazionale di Produzione della Danza Scenario Pubblico/CZD for the period 2019-1021.

Manfredi is a freelance teacher in various professional training programs both in Italy and abroad, such as Balletto di Roma, Laban Trinity College, Austrian Youth Ballet, ROS Opus Ballet, Agorà Coaching Project, Royal Academy of Dance Italy.
