ALESSIO MARIA ROMANO

CHOREOGRAPHER
As a researcher, he alternates between the study of contemporary dance, theater, movement pedagogy and his own choreographic research. A Certified Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst (C.M.A.), he teaches stage movement at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano’s “L. Ronconi” School, where he is also academic coordinator. He collaborates with many Italian institutions, including Teatro Stabile di Torino, Civica Paolo Grassi, and Accademia Nazionale Silvio D’amico. He is on the faculty of EMOVE’s Laban/Bartenieff Master program in Amsterdam. He was a guest at College Teatro of the Venice Biennale (2018, 2020), where he returned with his work Noi for the 2025 edition. He has collaborated with many directors, including L. Ronconi, A. Latella, and S. Sinigaglia, and has choregraphed for Nuovo Balletto di Toscana, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Regio di Torino, and INDA in Syracuse. His works include Chorós, Bye Bye, and LoveYOU for Balletto Teatro di Torino, and PRINCIPIA for TPE in Turin.
Guest at GinesioFest in 2024 and 2025; associate artist at Arearea Dance Company for 2025/27; winner of the Premio Nazionale della Critica (ANCT) in 2025 as theater pedagogue and choreographer; recipient of the Silver Lion for theater pedagogy and choreography at the 2020 Venice Theater Biennale.
